Thou art a work of art,
None fairer than thee on earth,
A painter’s painted picture art thou,
A grand grand masterpiece art thou.
If only I be with thee
The luckiest man will then I be;
If only thee unfold thine heart,
What joy would fill my heart!
No, I dare not desire thy taste,
I dare not longed to be embraced;
No, I dare not asked thy love,
And make thee a jest to laugh.
Oh! Woe is me, the poor me!
For having eyes for what I fit not like thee
